We started our journey to Darjeeling by 9 AM from Lumthang Valley. We bid adieu to very nice hostess (very friendly and punctual). We could not believe what we witness today but memories were there for lifetime. Saw few yaks enroute on the Zuluk hills.
The train was full with lots of foreigners as well. Thank god we booked our tickets in advance though. Right time and Steam Engine Train whistled on tracks along side road (crossing sometimes). Shops were too near to train and soon we reached Batasia Loop and stopped for scheduled 10 mins.
2. Hotel Montana: Rs 4500 / per day X 2 Days (CP)
We Reached Rangpo by 11:45 AM, took a break. Few Kms away was Teesta Bridge where we took our cab in direction of Darjeeling mountains. What roads, very well laid with no/few potholes !!! Surprising.
We reach Lamhata Eco Park at around 1 PM , took a break and strolled. Although there was small lake above but due to fatigue and my younger son having motion sickness led us to stroll down in nice manicured garden for around 30 mins. Weather was bit cloudy and foggy.
Around 2:15 PM we reached our hotel in Darjeeling, Hotel Montana above Big Bazaar. We had our Toy Train tickets booked (from IRCTC ) for 4:10 PM . We freshened up, had nice lunch and rested for some time.
Darjeeling Railway Station was walking distance (5-7 mins) from Hotel all the way down from Laladen la Road. Kids were excited and so were we ready to be kids once again. Weather was foggy/sunny and playing all tricks.

Next we reached Ghum station stopped there for 30 mins , went to museum near by. Had nice tea and the returned to station , the total train journey was about 2 hrs.
It rained in evening but since hotel was in Rink mall, we enjoyed a lot and retired for the day as it was very long and eventful.
